Walkerhill Hosts 2019 Youth Career Academy
• Training young talent is just one more part of Walkerhill’s SV activities
• A total of 60 trainees were selected through an intense application process and given practical education & training
The Youth Employment Academy provides training programs for companies, employers’ associations, universities, and private sector training institutions to provide on-site tailored training courses growing the employment capacity of job-seeking young people. After they have completed the training course, participating companies receive support for hiring these talented young people.
Walkerhill makes “Social Value” (SV) a focus of its business operations. Therefore the training course gives Walkerhill a great opportunity to educate these young people in immersive, real-life situations that directly relate to the field. This year, Walkerhill organized a “Hotel & Restaurant Service Training Course” that provided activities including a hotel service experience, practical on-site training, and employment seminars. The competition was intense, with 220 students from all over the country applying in April & May. Only 60 trainees were selected and they will undergo the training program over the entire summer vacation; from June through August.
“Walkerhill has created a team of experts in their field to run a program that teaches the essentials and professionalism needed in the real world,” Walkerhill General Manager Jungsub Do explained. “Our aim with this year’s course is to provide the best possible training so we can develop the future leaders in the hotel restaurant service industry.”
Walkerhill is honored to have been selected as a business operator of the Youth Employment Academy, having participated in this project since 2013. A total of 630 young people have participated in the program, boasting a 97.5% completion rate. On an evaluation of the program which took into account the completion rate, employment rate, participant satisfaction, etc., saw the Walkerhill program placed in the top 10%, and Walkerhill has been recognized as an ‘Superior Management Institution’ every year since 2014.
